COMPASS ROSE
Compass Rose is a custom-built vessel by Neil Organ of Blue-Sky Marine. This 1985 Executive 50 Series fibreglass flybridge cruiser was once an impressive sight on the Murray and, with some dedicated restoration work, could be returned to its former glory. The previous owner lived aboard and, due to health reasons, was unable to maintain the vessel to the level required. It is now priced to sell, offering an excellent opportunity for a new owner seeking a rewarding project with strong potential.
The exterior features stainless-steel handrails, a swim platform, and generous sponson decks that allow for safe and comfortable movement around the vessel. The flybridge offers a spacious second helm station with canvas weather covers, and the stern deck is well-suited for outdoor dining and entertaining while enjoying uninterrupted river views.
Inside, the saloon can be accessed from either the port or starboard sides. The starboard helm is equipped with Volvo Penta instrumentation and Hydrive 2000-series hydraulic steering. The saloon also includes a sofa bed, a three-seater lounge, a wall-mounted TV and DVD unit, a Sony sound system, a Kelvinator air conditioner, and ample cabinet storage. Stepping forward and down, you enter the mid-ship galley and booth-style dining area. Large glass windows and doors ensure the entire living space is bright and inviting.
Accommodation is generous, with a forward double V-berth that currently sleeps four and could be converted into a full double bedroom if desired. At the stern, the primary cabin features a king-size walk-around bed along with hanging and storage space. The bathroom includes a moulded shower and vanity, and opposite is a separate household flushing toilet with plumbing provisions for a washing machine positioned behind the linen cupboard.
Mechanically, the vessel is powered by a 1985 Volvo Penta TD40A 130 hp marine diesel engine with 9,492 hours, driving a shaft and propeller. The engine was serviced by Berri Diesel Services in January 2017 and has been maintained since by Geoff Treloar. A 400-litre fuel tank provides an excellent cruising range. Additional onboard systems include an Onan diesel marine generator with 2,751 hours, shore-power connections, an electric hot-water storage tank, an EPA-compliant 420-litre waste storage system, a Weber Kettle gas BBQ, and 12-volt house batteries installed in 2024.
This is an As Is Where Is, walk-in walk-out sale. The vessel is currently uninsured, and buyers should undertake their own inspections and due diligence. Mooring is available upon application and approval. Compass Rose is ready for a new owner to restore her and enjoy the impressive vessel she has the potential to be.
Expressions of interest are invited, withInspections available by appointment only.
